Fiber Careers
A fiber career can grow in many directions. Most people start in residential or installer roles and branch into specialties.
[01]

[02]
Fiber Technician
Light testing, troubleshooting outages, basic splice repair.
[03]
Splicer
Specialist in fusion splicing — backbone, distribution, and high-count cables.
[04]
OSP Technician
Outside plant work: aerial, underground, vault, and route construction.
[05]
Network Engineer
Design networks, plan capacity, manage OLTs and core infrastructure.
[06]
Project Manager
Run builds end-to-end: scope, crews, schedules, customer hand-off.
◆Field Insight
Most veteran technicians didn't plan a fiber career — they started running drops or pulling cable and grew into splicing, OSP design, or engineering. Show up, ask questions, and learn the tools. The industry rewards hands-on competence.
