Equipment Maintenance
Your gear is only as good as you keep it. Clean equipment is the single biggest separator between consistent splicers and frustrated ones.

Wipe down the case, check the electrodes for wear, and run electrode stabilization or replacement at the manufacturer's recommended interval. Update firmware when the manufacturer releases it.
Use a fresh fiber-tipped cleaning stick with 99% IPA. A single piece of debris in the V-groove will offset the fiber and ruin every splice after it.
Inspect the splicer's internal optics with each cleaning cycle. Smudges on the camera path produce false alignment errors.
Rotate or replace the blade on schedule. Clean the rubber pads and clamps. A precision cleaver is a precision tool — treat it like one.
Coating residue and shards build up in the clamps. Clean them with IPA and a wipe every session, not once a month.
Run batteries through full cycles occasionally and keep the splicer case dry and dust-free. Most field failures start with neglected hardware.
